Gay of a Certain Age - Craft Night 2025

 One of my favorite nights of the year is Craft Night! That's the night I have friends over to craft Valentine's Day cards.  I, of course, make cards for no one in particular while others make them for loved ones or other occasions, like birthdays or funerals.  It's a time to see people I haven't seen in a while, or favorites I get to hang out with.  Truth be told, sometimes I have so many people over that I don't get to craft or chat because I'm too busy making sure people are happy with food & drink and have a place to sit. Either way, it's always a fun time and I love it.  I even enjoy the two or three days after that it takes to clean up!

I put out all the materials and tell guests all they need to bring is their imagination.   I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but one year some dear friends brought a stack of porn magazines (some really great vintage offerings in there, too) and the cards started taking on a more adult tone than the ones we're used to exchanging in grade school.

Sure, making cards is fun

But, for me, a real highlight is taking pics in the photobooth that pops up in my bedroom!

I enjoy doing this every year, and every year regret missing those who couldn't make it (I even made it more like an open house from 4-10+ so that more people can make it), but honestly, until I get a bigger place, I'll just have to enjoy the faces that show up and dream of expanding my invite list.

As a Gay of a Certain Age, I know how important it is to cherish those who surround you with love and pornographic valentines.  Even though I'm single, I rarely feel alone on Valentine's Day.  Thanks guys!
