Getting Out _ Bear Soup

 My Update continues...

As you know, if you're dying alone and you're open to, maybe, not dying alone, it's important to get out!
So, back in April, when muh DAB, Dennis Hensley asked if I wanted to go to a pool party/video release party hosted by our friend, Tom Goss, I said, "Fuck Yeah!"  (Even though, I was looking forward sitting at home alone, working on my fabulous Easter Bonnet.)  I'm glad I did! It was a fun time!

You remember my friend, Tom Goss, don't you?  He makes music and like bear guys!
Tom Goss

Well, Tom had recently made a video for his song, BEAR SOUP and he threw a release party in the same setting that the video was shot, a big back yard with a fabulous swimming pool. He sported his video caftan,

while the other guys, mostly bears, wore the usual swim party attire.

There were yummy food snacks, socializing and most importantly, swimming!

Tom mixed around with all the party folk,

while I stuck mostly with Dennis, because I didn't know many people there.  I remember thinking to myself that I SHOULD know more people there.

I remember thinking that while we were sitting in the hot tub...

"I SHOULD know more of the people here!" I thought very loudly.

Actually, some hottie that I am acquainted with (not pictured) showed some interest in me and I jumped at the chance of creating some more steam outside of the hot tub.  There was some smooching happening, little grabs here & there and then we made a plan.  We would sneak away after the viewing of the video premiere!   That would be a few hours later...

Speaking of later, my friend and sometimes castmate, Thomas Colby, showed up.
You remember him! We did the stunts in the reading of MOMMIE DEAREST for Sean Abley's Life Cycle fundraiser!
Remember?  We were stunt Christina & stunt Joan!

With Thomas there, I had another friendly face to socialize with as we waited for the premiere to screen, after the sun went down.  So evening hit and the video was shown.  Apparently, the sun wasn't the only thing to go down.  So did the other guy's interest in hooking up.  I don't know what happened, but there we were.  If this hurt more than it did this would be a "This Is Why I'm Single" entry.
Thomas REALLY liked the video

Alas, the evening ended, we said our goodnights and I went home; Alone, Disappointed, but otherwise satisfied from a fun day in the sun with friends, hot guys and snacks.
Mostly, I was happy for Tom and excited to celebrate his birthing another delightful creation.
I admire his artistry and consistency in producing new works and moving forward, every day!
Congratulations, Tom!

Gay of a Certain Age - Yes, We Caftan!

My friend, Gregory Gordon, had a birthday party this past weekend and I was delighted to attend. ...but first I tortured myself with the idea of just shutting myself in for the weekend and enjoying some alone time in my apartment, which I haven't had in weeks!  What with cat sitting, immediately followed by dog sitting and work and 3 days of wedding events and Gay Pride and Star Wars at Disneyland and book signings and special anniversary screenings... I really wanted some alone time at home.  Also, did I really want to go to a THEMED birthday party?

YES!!
Gregory's birthday party theme was Palm Spring Realness: Caftans & Hats!

I am lucky to have found a group of friends who really know how to work a theme.  (Even at their (my) laziest, they are at least, theme appropriate.)  And, the party had it all...
Pool time fun & merriment

There were games... like this odd balls on a rope you try to wrap around a rack...

And there was food
With Matt at the grill, you knew it was gonna be hot!

There was a brief modeling session

there were even SIMULATED water sports!!

And, of course, Birthday Cake (Presented by Tegr, who created a theme appropriate, Palm Springs hot tub cake!)

It was a nice time of friends hanging out and having fun,

which made so glad I didn't decide to stay in my apartment, alone on a Sunday afternoon instead of cherishing the great friends I have!

Finally, there was a costume change, ala Angela Landsbury at the Tonys, where Gregory got a little more comfortable in sequins.

And now, the caftan parade!

As a Gay of a Certain Age, I realize how important it is to be with the people you love & care about, as well as how important it is to not shy away from a party theme!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GREGORY!

Getting Out - Go Wet 2

I continued my quest of getting out of my home and into the sun by staying wet!
Thank goodness muh friends Avery & Koppany threw together a totally impromptu swimming party!

Avery is a great host!

As is Kopanny...

(you know Koppany, right?  the Gay Doctor?)

And the guest always includes fun, outgoing guys...

But not too exclusive, 'cause I'm there, right?

Plus, snacks & drink really added to the cooling off

Anyway, it was a fun, wet & wacky day

And if one were to tire of splashing around, there's a nice shady place under a fabulous tree to relax

Just put one's legs up & relax

Yes, I am grateful that my friends help me with the battle to get out of my home and into the sun for a little socializing and wetness.  I hope there is more to come, and that I don't opt to stay in my apartment editing photos instead of living them...
