He Don't Even Know - Slurpee Me

God, I love "Mario"!
He is so sweet!
He's very considerate
and always thinks of me
and my comfort.

Without even asking,
he'll walk over to the local convenience store
and get me a refreshing drink
as a respite from these awfully hot days!

I am always sure to show my appreciation
by finishing what he brings for my mouth.
...every last slurp!

Getting Out - Go Wet 2

I continued my quest of getting out of my home and into the sun by staying wet!
Thank goodness muh friends Avery & Koppany threw together a totally impromptu swimming party!

Avery is a great host!

As is Kopanny...

(you know Koppany, right?  the Gay Doctor?)

And the guest always includes fun, outgoing guys...

But not too exclusive, 'cause I'm there, right?

Plus, snacks & drink really added to the cooling off

Anyway, it was a fun, wet & wacky day

And if one were to tire of splashing around, there's a nice shady place under a fabulous tree to relax

Just put one's legs up & relax

Yes, I am grateful that my friends help me with the battle to get out of my home and into the sun for a little socializing and wetness.  I hope there is more to come, and that I don't opt to stay in my apartment editing photos instead of living them...

He Don't Even Know - In the Swim of Things

This is "Luis"
He's happy because pool season
is upon us!
He loves to swim!
These last few Los Angeles days
have been pretty chilly,
but that hasn't stopped him.
He dives in, as long as I am there
to warm him up again when he
comes out!

WTF - Weird Tales File

This has nothing to do with being single, or living alone,
except that it happened while I was with one of my DABs...
It's something I worry about every summer and tonight it almost happened!
See, muh DAB and I (mostly muh DAB) thought it would be a good idea to walk from his place
in West Hollywood to the mall in Century City to see MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5.
The walk took more than an hour and by the time we got to the theater, MI5 had sold out,
but we walked a long way! We weren't just gonna turn around and go back home,
so we saw FANTASTIC 4, instead- that's not the weird tale! (Believe the bad reviews.)
It was as we were walking back, through the sketchy neighborhoods of Beverly Hills, in the dark,
when I brushed up against a bush.  I felt a tough, stringy web thing on my arm and brushed it away.
Then I commanded muh DAB to stop!  Right in front of us was a spider web stretched across the
sidewalk.  A closer look revealed a spider right at face level.  Had we kept walking,
one of us would have kissed a spider!  I moved over to the street, to walk where it is safer.
I was almost gloating how I had saved us from a vicious spider attack, when I felt the stringy webbing, still on my arm.  I brushed at it again and when I looked down, I saw another spider ascending the web right up my leg!!  I did the gayest little dance while I lept off the ground to put distance between me and the spider that was attached to the web stuck to my arm.  It kept coming up!
I finally broke the web and he fell straight away as I continued to dance.
I love summer, but I hate inconsiderate spiders who build their webs across walk ways, or even,
as once in my former home, across the door way!

The little guy I took a picture of above, wasn't in a web, but skittering along the doorknob to the garage.
I don't want them dead, I just want them to keep in their own space!
Anyway, the weird part was the dance.

Single Perks - I Pooled It Together

Here are some more pics from the pool party I'm glad I didn't talk myself out of attending...

It's a good thing I'm single, otherwise I might feel guilty enjoying these pics!
Them's the perks!

Gay Of A Certain Age - Sucking In Sucks!

It's mid-July and I've only yesterday had my first pool party experience this year.
Yes, if I'm too busy for love, I'm certainly too busy for swimming!
I'm glad I found a time to be with my friends and new people,
but to be honest, I was none-too-glad to be in a swim suit.
You know if it's a gay pool party there's gonna be some hot rockin' sex God bods,
and this party was no different.  It's intimidating.  Then I looked around.
As a Gay Of A Certain Age, it's important to note that your contemporaries are probably more
like you than not.  I was not the only not-fit body there.  Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of
the close to 50's whose bodies looked like they had just stepped off the set of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS,

but I was comforted seeing a few who weren't concerned with model like attributes and sucking in their tummies.  I didn't feel as out of place as I worried I would.
How many gatherings had I talked myself out of attending, because I was worried about how I looked or how much I weigh?  Is that why I find myself alone?
Again, I'm not having a pity party for myself, because while I could stand to hit the gym,
I'm not Gilbert Grape's mom and I'm not that guy who fed his face to the dogs on HANNIBAL.
I think sometimes I just let myself fall into the gay trap of putting myself up against the images in gay mags & porn and feel like I have nothing to offer.  I know it's not true.  I think I've learned that, exactly like the gym, getting myself there is most of the battle and I usually enjoy my time there.

So, thank you, Avery, for the invite and I'm very glad I came!
