Merry Christmas 2025!

I hope your Holidays are as Happy as they can be!
If you're spending your holiday totally alone,
I hope you find good and healthy ways to keep yourself company!
Some of the things I've done to fill my time alone are:
Actually read a book!
This is the last book I have read.  I'm currently working on some collected stories by HP Lovecraft

Appreciate that (Holiday) movie I've been meaning to watch for years!
I couldn't get myself to start SPIRITED

Walk about and take pictures of Holiday decorations that make me happy.

The WeHo bars all lit up are a colorful blast holiday cheer!

Craft my Holiday Cards
More on this later

write stuff (in my Blog)
NO PIC

Anyway, remember what you enjoy and do it!
Give yourself the gift of time with you and what makes you happy!

Horror Holidays 2020!

Hello, Gentle Reader,
Along with a new, gayer Christmas tree, I've put up a smaller Spewky Christmas tree and I wanted you to see that, too!

As you know I really enjoy the Horror and the Disneyland, so I bought a couple of cute ornaments when I succumbed to that gas they pump into the air at Disneyland that makes you want to buy, buy, buy!  Little did I know that this innocent little Jack Skellington ornament from THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS would lead to so much more.

After this found its way onto my Christmas tree, I had to get it friends...

Then, sometime in September, I was at Son of Monster Palooza promoting my show PERFECT HALLOWEEN...

...when I saw the cutest ornaments, I just had to get them!  Plus, I do enjoy supporting the crafters!

These two are by Shannon Van Pelt

After that, it's as if someone was reading my mind, or spying on my browsing habits... and I somehow found my way to HORRORnaments and bought enough of them to put up a Halloween tree! I actually bought the tree from them.  Then, I thought, 'why take down the tree?' and I ended up with these Horrornaments with the others through Christmastime...

And, because I also love Dunnys, I plunked my Krampus Dunny down at the base of the tree.

Because I'm working from home on account of the Covid, I see this all day everyday, because it shares my dining table with my workspace.

I feel so lucky to share my Gay Tree and Horror Holiday Tree with you and hope that I've spread a little bit of holiday cheer in this year of suckiness!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Gay of A Certain Age - 12th Day Come Down

My Christmas tree is put away and my holiday themed Broadway show posters are re-filed.
Today, I used my day off of work to put away my holiday decor, the tree, the posters and festive tchotchkes, which include my collection of Christmas Dunnys!
I showcased this year's model, the Rise of Rudolph,  designed by Frank Kozik.  Is it surprising I have Dunnys that sit put away for 11 months of the year? It is to me!

I only wanted you all to know that I did all this so you would know that just because I live alone, I don't think it doesn't matter that I'd leave this stuff up for months after.  As a Gay of A Certain Age, I know how important it is to keep current and in touch with what's going on outside of my home.

Mostly, I posted this so that I wasn't the only one who saw my tree this year...

Gift Ideas for the Dying Alone - Sad? Not For Long!

We're getting into gift-getting-crunch time for Chistmakuah!  I know a few of you have those uncles you really care about and can not bare to get another GOLDEN GIRLS themed item, so I present you with this gift idea; THE HOME SAD DETECTOR!  This fabulous item is great for those who are dying alone and have no one there to tell them when they're being pathetic.  I got one for my birthday in October, thank you dear nephew Carlos, Jr! (Oh crap!  I just realized that we have the same birthday and I didn't send him anything... I'm a bad Funny Uncle).  Anyway, I love my Home Sad Detector.

Here's how it works; mounted on a wall in between your living room and bedroom, it monitors and waits judgementally to warn you when it senses your behavior becomes sad.  I've had it for only two months and already it's helped me many times!  It seems to have an unlimited amount of phrases in its memory card.  I've heard it say; "Bzzz. You've watched 10 episodes of JUDGE JUDY without leaving that chair.  That's sad.", "Bzzz.  You've been wearing those jeans for five days in a row.  That's sad.", "Bzzz. You keep checking for text messages even though there's been no indication of activity on your phone.  That's sad.", "Bzzz. You keep watching EMPIRE. It's not going to get any better.  That's sad." and my favorite so far, "BZZZ.  Jesus Christ!  It smells like the Pilsbury Dough Boy killed himself by shooting himself with a can of instant biscuits after working out with a sardine trainer and his rotting body is decaying into a puddle of silicone!  THAT'S SAD! Open a fucking window!"  I guess it's programmed with an emotion chip because it sure sounded angry.

There's no telling what this Home Sad Detector will say next!  As the box says, "Each phrase is a humiliating, but needed surprise."  That is except for the the phrase at the bottom of the package which is printed and red and is marked A PHRASE YOU MAY NOT HEAR: "You haven't moved in three days. You are dead. That's sad. I'm contacting the coroner."

If you do go with a GOLDEN GIRLS themed gift, try the books GOLDEN GIRLS FOREVER by Jim Colucci or BETTY WHITE RULES THE WORLD by Mike Pingel.

Holiday Memory - The Play Was the Thing

I really enjoy the holidays
and I absolutely enjoy my friends,
the two together are just too much
and I feel very lucky to have them!
This is me, muh DAB, Dennis and my cousin, Tony
seven years ago.
We met up and enjoyed the seasonal decorations at the Americana in Glendale.
Dennis and I had just seen The Rainmaker at A Noise Within
and we've been enjoying shows there together ever since!
I love that Dennis enjoys all kinds of theatre
and that we are tight theatre buddies
as well as Die Alone Buddies!
Tony is married,
so he can't be muh DAB.
He's fine as a cousin!

It's just at times like now
that I enjoy all the love I have coming at me
instead of worrying about the love
I may be missing.
As they say,
"Two in the hand is better than
one in the brambles"
...or something like that.

Gift Ideas For the Dying Alone - Go Fluffy!

The holidays are coming up faster than we'd like to acknowledge, and we're losing precious shopping time to doubts in our heads about what is a great holiday gift!!  I am here to help.  As one of the Dying Alone, I've taken great care to think, "What would I like as a Christmas gift?" and have some suggestions you may find helpful.

I spend a lot of time in my shower thinking, 'What if I slip & fall and hurt myself in a way that I can't get up and call for help.  What if I just lie here a while before I die?'  That's why I think all Dying Alones would really love a really cushy bath mat!

Imagine yourself, prone, with your face pressed against the bathroom floor, trapped there for a day or two before you finally bleed out.  What would be more comfortable than furry memory foam, holding your face, like an angel's hand?  And if it's absorbent, that's a bonus for the folks from the county who have to clean up the mess of a decaying body. (Lucky you're close to the tub!)  If you think it's not substantial enough of a gift, give several in various colors, who wants to die knowing for certain that the final color they'll see is beige or sea foam? Mix it up to keep the dying guessing!

Another gift idea inspired by my dying alone, comes in the form of somebody's departed beloved.
I live alone, without a pet, because I'm too busy for love or an animal that depends on me for his feedings and poopy breaks.  Wouldn't it be great to have a pet I don't have to worry about while I'm on stage doing a show immediately after my full time job?  How about getting a Dying Alone one of these?

A fluffy stuffed animal!  Not one of those childish, carnival toys, but an actual animal that can look at you with love with its real eyes!  This animal won't pee in the house, beg for food at the table or embarrass you by humping your potential suitor's leg!  Look at that face!  I just want to take this stuffed chihuahua ( ? ) , and place him in bed with me to cuddle & keep me warm on these chilly December nights.  Best of all, he won't sneak up from behind and lick my feet during sex! (That's a task I'd like to save for my fella!)  This is a bundle of unconditioned unconditional love that would make any Dying Alone happy.

There you have it; two great gift giving ideas for your companionless friends!
...or yourself, right?
You don't have to thank me, just get me a date!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The Trials of Man Solo - If a tree is decorated in the forrest and no one sees it...

Earlier this year, I overheard this exchange between me and me immediately after I took down my Christmas tree;

Me:  Oh, Crap!  I wanted to take a picture!
Me: Why?
Me:  No one saw it.

NOT THIS YEAR!
I put up my Christmas tree today!  By golly, I swear someone besides me will see the dadburned thing this year!  Yes, this will encourage me to have more (any) interaction with folks! (Mostly guys. Mostly gay guys.)  So, even though I have nothing on the books I decorated my place a little.
I started with the tree.  I let my friend, Superman help...
(Don't worry, we don't actually talk to each other.  He's just a big toy.)

We hanged the ornaments with care.

I also put out my Holiday Dunnys...

and a few more vinyl toys

All in an effort to make my place a cozy, colorful, holiday home.
Heck, even my Broadway posters are holiday themed (Including the Broadway Bares one...)

Alas, these are the Trials of Man Solo; Sometimes all the decorating you do for holidays or special occasions is solely for oneself.  I do enjoy decorating for myself, because I deserve celebration just as much as anyone else.  But, it is nice to share the fun isn't it?  So, let's hope I'm not Too Busy For Love this season and get at least one, eligible man-suitor to see my tree!
