S'up, Muh DAB? - Muh DABs Are Numbered!

Well, along with the story of Brett’s wedding comes the unavoidable realization;

Muh DABs are numbered!

I used to have a good deal of DABs, now, they’re dropping like flies.

It all started with my first and best Die Alone Buddy, Ted.

We’ve been friends since early high school years and are still thick as molasses in caramel!

When I moved out of my home town, I certainly didn’t expect Ted to stop going out and enjoying the single life.  As a matter of fact, when he came to visit me, he opened a few of the Single Life in LA doors for me.  I can easily say, nobody enjoyed being single more than Ted in those days.

Whenever we got together and hit whichever town we were in,

We always had a great time and left a few handsome admirers smiling in our wake.
Paris is still smiling.

What with us living single lives in different cities for years, I guess it was only a matter of time before one of us would fall into some marriage.

So, on Valentine’s Day 2014, bye-bye Single Ted.

Not long after, muh DAB Oscar fell prey to some guy and he got hitched in April 2014.

Oscar and I started acting together in Chico’s Angels in 2003

Not long after, we were hanging out and doing a bunch of stuff together, including traveling and enjoying international guy ogling.

But, no more.

 June 2017, Jerry marries Greg.

I met Jerry through Brett.
Many were the evenings of friend events that included much laughter, drinks & man hunting.

I’ll never forget our Miami trip in 2003,

but I can forget about Dying Alone with Jerry.

 Brett marries Andrew in 2019…

Somewhere along the way Avery has married Koppany.

Lastly, Ray marries Daran in December 2021.

I didn’t hang out with Ray nearly as much as I did with Oscar during the Chico’s Angels days, but we did share some great times out, and may have gone after the same guy on more than one occasion…

Of course, I am happy for all of them and I still get to enjoy the company of most of them, still, along with their husbands,

But, now that they have someone to grow old with, where does that leave me?

Where does it leave the ever shrinking group of DABs I fantasized would all live in a converted Mid-Century Motel, where each has his own room, with the office/lobby converted into the best den/living room/dining room where we could hang out and plan our next scandalous trip to Miami or Puerto Vallarta?

Speaking of which, who are the DABs I still have left?

There’s the ever reliable Dennis.

We met over 20 years ago and Dennis was the original hub through which I met many of my current friends. We hang and it’s good.

There’s Glenn.

I met him through Dennis, of course, and he lives very near me, so we share meals often and see each other so much that we bicker like an old married couple and I am always right.

Most of my out & about time is spent with Dennis and Glenn.  There isn’t as much man chasing as there was a few years ago and the pandemic sure put a damper on dating, so we participate in various DAB activities.

My Long Distance DAB is Rich.

I met him through Brett decades ago and I usually see him when I visit New York and on our fabulous DAB Travel Adventures, like the one in Puerto Vallarta.

I will say the Rich is quite the inspirational Man Hunter, from whom I’m still learning.

Also on the Roster is Dudley.

We’ve known each other for years and, for me, Dudley has taken on the mantle of The Hub and is very socially active.

I admire his energy, creativity and ability to get shit done!  I also admire his fearless movements in the social environs of Gay.

I feel like we could stand to be closer.  That has all to do with me shying away from invitations, or keeping myself too busy for love or even forming new DABs.
We’re growing.

Same goes for Steven

We’re relatively new and I sense new and exciting adventures ahead for us.

I even have an Honorary DAB, Geoffy.
I’ve known him the longest of all muh DABS, past & present.

He’s honorary because he’s of the straight persuasion.  We probably don’t seem like the most likely of friends… (“What could they possibly have in common?” I’ve heard someone ask.)
We have plenty enough in common to carry the history of our friendship going on over 20 years. We have a sense of kinship, loyalty, with maybe, a touch of duty behind our relationship.

Geoffy exists mostly separately from my other DABs.  That is mainly because of the gay element within the confines of the DAB definition concocted only for this Blog and entertainment purposes.
I’ll just say, that in the end, Geoff is perfectly welcome to stay in my fantasy converted motel; hetero & all.

There’s a few more, but I shan’t list them, for fear I may scare them away.

So, while my long standing DABs are falling away from singledom and evolving into dear, loving Married Folk, I won’t distress too much because I still have a handful of DABs with whom I can enjoy singledom as we age.  Also, I'm going to need some time to get the money to find and buy that motel I'm fantasizing about!

Gay of A Certain Age - Craft Night: The Cards

As I promised, here are the fabulous and totally naughty cards that were created on Craft Night 2020.  Some folk created nice cards that they could pose with. Like Glenn.

See? That was nice.
I even made a card for my Ma and one for my friend Geoffy and his bitey dog that I call Bitey,
*
(Sorry, the insides of those cards are personal...)

Some cards were innocent and blank inside
*
 Some were, uhm, unpredictable

*

And then some toed the line on naughty

And then there were the ones that were visually or totally naughty...
You can see those HERE

Gay of A Certain Age - A Reconsideration of Romance and Love; or Who Was On First?

What is wrong with me?
See this guy?

His name is Jim.  We held hands and made out & stuff for over 13 months.  We are still friendly now, just not stick our tongues in each others mouths friendly, anymore.  I always call Jim my first and only significant romantic relationship.  Then, I embarked on a project to make my home less cluttered (BIG MISTAKE) and I decided to clear out my photo albums- I took all the photos out and dumped the albums and am now in the very long process of scanning in the photos I wanna keep (which is all of them) and (trying to) tossing the paper photos in the recycle bin.  That when I came across this guy...

His name is Ed.  I forgot how we actually met, but I remember I really liked him and we held hands and made out & stuff  for a few months.

I know it was a few months because of the photos.  I don't even remember why we stopped seeing each other, but I do know it wasn't a huge dramatic break up...  But why didn't I consider this a significant romantic relationship  before this very moment, 20 years after not dating much, not having more than one other boyfriend and starting a blog called DieAloneWithME.Com??  Maybe Ed and I didn't see each other every day, or as often as Jim and I did over that year.  Maybe I was just an ungrateful piggy and didn't realize what I had.  Maybe it wasn't all that great...  Hmmm.
Anyway, no matter how I felt after not seeing Ed anymore, I've decided that Ed is my first significant romantic relationship.  ...Especially because he was my first OFFICIAL Valentine!

It's true!  He was the first guy to give me a Valentine's Day card and kiss me with full-on romantic notions behind it all.    I know that because he wrote it all in this; my first official
Valentine's Day Card.

No, I shan't let you read the inside, it's personal. (Has that stopped me before?)
And if being my first Valentine wasn't enough, he took me to my first (AND ONLY) Celine Dion Concert!!

I know that sounds sarcastic, and I was dubious when he surprised me with the tickets, but I REALLY enjoyed that concert very much!

Obviously, my friends liked him, 'cause here we are enjoying a game night of sorts...
(Geoff Meed having a physical Outburst)

Hmmm... I don't think I wanna ponder too much on why we parted, I'll just enjoy this nice memory brought to me by the horrifically bad idea of de-cluttering my home.

And yes, these did spark joy...

P.S. Astute readers may notice that my top pic and my other pic with Jim are both birthday celebrations for me.  Skeptical readers might ask, "If you were together for only 13 months, how did you spend two birthdays together?"  Most readers wouldn't give a shit... but I'll explain anyway.  I had two celebrations one year.  Jim had a nice dinner for me at Off Vine, where he invited some of my closest friends and a few of his lovely friends I still love and enjoy.  The second was a surprise celebration my, then, roommate Kris threw for me at El Coyote with my, then, boyfriend, Jim and a bunch of his own friends (whom were all nice and fun...)  So I'm not lying about this stuff, no matter what the surface appearance my indicate.

...or wait... Did Jim and I start in September, with my birthday right away, then.. aw Crap!

This Is Why I Am Single - The Promo Sexual

Last night, I went out with a group of friends to see THE MEG.  ...Actually, this was my second viewing of THE MEG, I had seen it the prior Friday with muh pal Geoff Meed.  It's not that great a movie, but I went the second time, just to be with my friends.  I'm so busy, I'll take any opportunity I can get for quality time.  And, I found the movie to be, at least, entertaining and fun in some parts.

Anyway, as we were leaving we spied a really neato statue of a PREDATOR to promote the upcoming movie.  I don't know how this started, but now, when I see a stand up promo for a movie, I have to go down on my knees and blow it!  I can't resist!

Actually, I think the Predator really enjoyed it, so no harm , no foul, right?

Speaking of fowl...

I should be so Lucky

I felt pervy when someone reminded me that this guy was a TEENAGER
But 19 is still teen AND legal!

I think I have a thing for heros

And The Rock!

I'll just say Batman was not so serious when I was done.

So, yeah, that's it one of my favorite movie going experiences...
and This Is Why I Am Single;
I can't resist blowing movie characters in public.
